Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actress is well known for her performance in films and television since the late 1980s. She has received various awards, including two Golden Globe Awards, and sixteen NAACP Image Award. Since the late 80s she has been working in television and film. She's received numerous awards including 16 NAACP Image Awards. Bassett was raised in Winston-Salem North Carolina, raised by an aunt in New York New York. Her mother split with her father when she was around five. She and her younger sister then relocated to St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett watched the James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play when she was in high school, and realised that she was an actor and was looking to pursue. She was a student at Yale University New Haven Connecticut receiving a bachelor's degree (1980) with a major in African American studies and a master's degree (1983) from the Yale School of Drama. Courtney B. Vance met her at Yale, and in 1997 they got married. Qualification: B.A. The Yale School of Drama conferred the degree of Master of Fine Arts in African American Studies to Angela Bassett in the year 1980. The school she attended was the institutions that she attended: Jordan Park elementary school, Disston Middle School for students in 7th grade, Azalea Middle School for 8th & 9th grades as well as Boca Ciega High School.
